Background

Mercapto mix is used to screen for contact allergy to N-Cyclohexylbenzothiazyl sulfenamide, Dibenzothiazyl disulfide, and Morpholinylmercaptobenzothiazole which are used as rubber accelerators. The thiazoles are the most common accelerators used in the manufacture of natural and synthetic rubber. Mercaptobenzothiazole is also a thiazole rubber accelerator. It is typically tested seperately but is sometimes added to the mix.
