ORALE PATHOLOGIE / AFWIJKINGEN AAN HET MONDSLIJMVLIES home ICD10: n.v.t.

Hoewel men zou denken dat patiënten met afwijkingen in de mondholte verwezen worden naar een afdeling mondheelkunde / tandheelkunde of kaakchirurgie, of KNO, belanden zij toch ook vaak op de poli dermatologie. Sommige dermatologen zijn zelfs gespecialiseerd in orale pathologie. Ook zijn er vele voorbeelden van huidafwijkingen die zowel de huid als de orale mucosa aantasten, zoals lichen planus, pemphigus, bulleus pemphigoid, lineaire IgA dermatose, Stevens Johnson syndroom / toxische epidermale necrolyse, erythema exsudativum multiforme, graft versus host disease, chronic ulcerative stomatitis, mucous membrane plasmocytosis (mucositis plasmacellularis), angio-oedeem, SLE, de ziekte van Behçet, major aphthous disease, pyostomatitis vegetans, pyoderma gangrenosum, Sweet syndroom, candida, angina van Plaut-Vincent, orale floride papillomatose, lues, donovanosis, amyloïdose, hand foot and mouth disease, lentiginosen, Peutz-Jeghers syndroom, tubereuze sclerose, orale melanosis, naevus van Hori, xanthomen, verruciform xanthoma, tufted angioma, granuloma teleangiectaticum, fixed drug eruption, contact-eczeem, ziekte van Reiter, voedingsdeficiënties, reticulohistiocytoma, lymfoma, Kaposi sarcoma, pachyonychia congenita, en epidermolysis bullosa acquisita.

Bouquot et al. onderzochten 23.516 blanke gezonde Amerikanen en kwamen tot onderstaande tabel met frequenties van de meest voorkomende orale afwijkingen:
